A longtime driver for Anderson Bus and Coach Co. in Frazee died Monday after his parked car was hit by another vehicle outside the bus garage on West Juniper Avenue.
Marlin Roger Miller, age 50, of Ponsford was transported to Essentia-St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes by St. Mary’s EMS, where he was later pronounced dead.
“It is with sadness that I say our friend, 30-year employee and fellow driver Marlin Miller, was killed in front of our garage this morning at 5:45 a.m.,” Anderson Bus and Coach announced on its Facebook page. “A car with no lights came out of nowhere and slammed into Marlin’s parked car while he listened to the news on the radio, as he has done for the past 30 years.”
The Becker County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that it received a call about 6 a.m. of a crash involving a vehicle running into a parked car on West Juniper Avenue in Frazee. A second call reported that a person was trapped inside the parked vehicle.
The sheriff’s office says Richard Henry Fisette, 39, of Perham, was driving east on West Juniper Avenue when he crashed into Miller’s vehicle.
Fisette was arrested for criminal vehicular operation, with formal charges pending further investigation.
According to court records, Fisette has 15 prior convictions, including for speeding, theft and DWI dating back to 1998. His most recent speeding ticket was in May. The DWIs were in 2007 and 2008. The four theft convictions were in 2013 and 2014. Most of his offenses were various types of misdemeanors, except for felony DWI.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the state patrol, the Frazee Fire Department, Frazee Rescue, St. Mary’s EMS, the Frazee Police Department, and the Detroit Lakes Fire Department.
Miller was well-liked in the community, and the Anderson Bus Facebook post had generated more than 180 condolences, thoughts, prayers and other comments by 9 p.m. Monday.
